I am currently a freelance columnist. I have a bi-weekly column in both Almasry Alyoum newspaper&website and Alarabiya English news website. I resigned the post of President of Egypt’s News Center in April 2011.I left my mission because I had reached the conclusion that the problems of the media, like the whole state, were not problems that could be solved through quick and easy solutions. The media, like the country, was in deep crisis. The potential collapse of the state media institution, like other state institutions was the main reason but not the only reason that led to me asking to be relieved of my  mission. I have detailed those reasons in my book Tahrir- the last 18 days of Mubarak.  I have commanded that post for more than five years. During those years the number of newscasts in State TV have increased and  its format plus content was completely transformed. My aim was to move with news reporting to the concept of public TV. My final project that was about to be launched and got delayed because of the uprising was a new news station that is totally different from Nile News in Arabic. I have commanded the re launch of  Nile International which is Egypt’s English, French and Hebrew speaking station as a news station. I  introduced the news sms service to the Egyptian public, established first Radio station in Egypt that presents news mixed with entertainment. I also established first official 4 news websites in Egypt; Arabic, English, French and Hebrew which started working on the first day of the year 2011. I worked on centralizing news reporting for all state television stations and news websites with the four languages. Before I joined state TV I was the bureau chief of Asharq Alawsat newspaper in its Cairo office.  Before that I have worked in London for more than eight years first as managing editor of Majalla magazine and then as the managing editor of Asaraq alawsat newspaper. I began my career in Egypt as a journalist in Majalla magazine.

As a freelance columnist I contributed to many publications:-

Alahram Aleqtesady Magazine

Alahram Newspaper

Alahram Almesaee Newspaper

Alwatan Alsaoudia Newspaper

Asharq Alawsat Newspaper
